Job Description
Applicant must be able to perform physical labor in Highway Construction activities of traffic control, erosion control, pipe-laying, and other duties as needed for project completion. This labor may involve use of hand and power tools, individually handling up to 35 lbs. of materials, and physical labor such as digging ditches, erecting silt fences, cleaning forms, job site housekeeping, standing for hours at a time such as flagging traffic, climbing ladders, walking on uneven ground, etc.
Work Environment
All construction is in outside weather conditions where employees are expected to dress appropriately.
Hours of Work
This a full time position with frequent long hours and weekend work. A work week that may vary dependent on weather, time of year, and other concerns is normally 7 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday with work schedule every other Saturday.
Travel/Location
Projects may be locally or out of town. Workers receive housing and meal per diem allowances if out of town work.
Wages
Wage rate usually $8.50 for trainee and negotiable dependent on experience
